I lived in Harlem for a decade. I moved from a small town Cary, North Carolina that couldn’t be more different. Living in a New York City neighborhood I finally understood what community felt like. It changed me and is something I want to share with you. Harlem’s vibe is energetic and welcoming. I've learned about culture and the way community supports each other. Creating the series ‘Exploring Harlem’ is a way to share the love I have with with world.

Through this series you meet my friends and I, discover new restaurants, people, establishments, and have adventures in Harlem. Our goal is to show you how these businesses have built community and pour into the neighborhood that loves them so much.

After over a decade of calling Harlem my home, I’ve realized the businesses I love that have been here aren’t being marketed the same way the new BIG COMPANIES are being marketed in the neighborhood. When it comes to some of these places, unless you have been taken to them personally, you wouldn’t even know they existed!

I want people who live here AND people visiting New York to make an intentional visit to Harlem and check out these amazing businesses, where you can eat fantastic food, enjoy exercise, live life, etc. We believe that when the product, vision, and mission are truly amazing, they must be featured and supported. There are so many amazing spots in and around Harlem that we want to focus on and plan to do so, one season at a time.

In this series, my friends and I are introducing you to the origin stories of black-owned businesses that leave us feeling inspired & hopefully fuel your creativity to CREATE and live out your dream.
